Chirping At Dusk

It started to snow this morning. After two days of a less cold rain that suggested spring, I awoke to see snowflakes drifting in a half-clouded sky, the sun rising in a clear patch to the east. At midmorning, the sky clouded over and it began to snow furiously. From my window, I watched it fall upon the construction site across from my building. On the roof of the still skeletal building, workers persisted in the icy wet shower.

warmth of day slipped away
